Santorini

Santorini

I guess it was about time to finally visit the ultimate Greek island. It was time for Santorini
For us it was only a two day stop, since this wasn’t our final summer destination and somehow, we have been avoiding going there all those years, “it is too crowed”, “it is way too expensive” … Well, Santorini can be all those things, but it is a MAGICAL place. You should make yourselves a favor, book a flight and you will not be disappointed.

Santorini
Santorin , Caldera

Santorini’s volcano is one of the few active volcanoes on Greek and European land. The islands that form Santorini came into existence as a result of intensive volcanic activity; twelve huge eruptions occurred, one every 20,000 years approximately, and each violent eruption caused the collapse of the volcano’s central part creating a large crater (caldera). The volcano, however, managed to recreate itself over and over again. https://www.visitgreece.gr/islands/cyclades/santorini/

Santorini
Kokkinos Villas , Akrotiri

Our hotel was at Akrotiri (Kokkinos Villas) and therefore we had a breath-taking view of the Caldera together with a small private pool which offered such a relaxing stay. The weather was extremely windy which is actually very typical for Kyklades (bring your jackets with you). We did not visit any of the island’s beaches and only explored Thira, Oia and Imerovigli

Oia, Thira, Imerovigli

All small villages of Santorini will take your breath away, the views are spectacular and those sunsets are simply unforgettable. The houses are all hanging from the cliffs, and with their white colours they create such a unique contrast with the wild browns and reds of the soil. Oia and Thira are beautiful destinations, narrow streets, amazing views, bars, restaurants, cafes and cute little shops and boutiques. Imerovigli was my favourite one, stunning views, very clean, amazing narrow streets, beautiful houses and less crowed. Don’t leave Santorini without tasting its amazing wines, fava and caper.

Greek summers are blessed.
Enjoy the endless blue.
Filakia!
